College is the best experience I had in my entire life. I can truly say that I found out who I am, my purpose in life and a great sense of style.
1. YOU ARE NOT A STUDENT ANYMORE
The first thing that you will be excited and nervous about is to not being a student anymore. This will be the first officially time that you will be free of the TITLE STUDENT. When this happened to me it was the weirdest thing BECAUSE MY IDENTITY FOR MOST OF MY LIFE WAS BEING A STUDENT; I AM GOOD AT BEING A STUDENT. Then I realized that I had no more student discounts, no excuses to getting out of going out and no more free money from parents. Then the realization came in OH MAN I AM OFFICIALLY AN ADULT.
2. STUDENT LOANS
At this very moment, I pondered hmm mm Why did I go to college in the first place? Why didn't I start paying on my interest when I was in college? I owe Student loans for my GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE CAREER and the time is officially HERE to start to paying up. Navient didn't give me a chance to forget because a week after graduation I received an email reminding me that I owe them money. I OWE UNCLE SAM SO MUCH MONEY IT IS RIDICULOUS even with some scholarships. I don't regret getting the student loans but I will be paying them back for a VERY LONG TIME.
3. JOBLESS
IT'S A STRUGGLE to find a decent job even with a COLLEGE degree NOWADAYS.You are either OVER QUALIFIED or DON'T HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE.This is what most jobs will tell you. After you graduate you receive your degree and then you blindly look for a job in your field. Unless you are one of the lucky ones who find a career paying job right out of college, this is becoming rare, unfortunately. Many times individuals have to find a job that is not related to their field of study because they have bills to pay. It is ridiculous how they treat many RECENT COLLEGE GRADS just trying to make it. 4.BILLS, BILLS BILLS
The reality set in that you have to begin to pay BILLS if you don't already. There is no
more meal plans, free food on campus, free events ( concerts, pools, game nights, and etc.) or car pools to get places. You will have to start paying for everything and the numbers add up. 😐Then the simple fact that you may have to move back in with your parents will be a good yet tragic thing because they will begin to treat you like your 18-year-old self before you left for college. This is cute for the first few months maybe even years but after a while sweetie its time to get out and grow some wings. But I will stay as long as you need because finding a job and living on your own is difficult. Getting a roommate is a great second option if staying with your parents is not an option.
5. COMPARISON
After you graduate college you are so excited to finally not have any more assignments due and the joys of being able to get a good night sleep without thinking about a deadline is refreshing. Then as time goes on you look on your Facebook feed at others who are doing great things in their lives such as getting more degrees, finding great paying jobs in their field, getting married, engaged and starting their own successful lives. Instead of looking at the images and post and being happy for them, you look at them and compare it to your life. At this moment you began to question your value and success. Then you may pose these questions such as Am good enough to be successful? What did I do wrong? Why can't I find happiness? and so on. These thoughts are not what we need to be feeding ourselves.I STRUGGLE WITH COMPARING MYSELF TO OTHERS. When I see others in my FB feed doing well or going on fancy vacations; I wonder why they have these things and I do not. Then I realized how blessed I am to have what I have. I have to constantly reevaluate my thoughts to be able to keep it on track with my goals.
